RN-Led Safe Progression After Injury, Illness, or Surgery (Colorado Clients Only)

This service is designed for individuals who have completed formal medical treatment, physical therapy, or hospitalization and are ready to safely rebuild strength, mobility, and confidence in their body.

Led by a seasoned Colorado Registered Nurse, this program provides structured, supportive, and clinically informed guidance to help you transition from recovery into sustainable, functional fitness—without risking setbacks or reinjury.

Who This Service Is For

  • Post-surgical clients (orthopedic, abdominal, cardiac clearance, etc.)

  • Individuals recovering from illness or hospitalization

  • Clients discharged from physical therapy who need continued guidance

  • Those experiencing deconditioning, weakness, or mobility limitations

  • Adults returning to exercise after injury or long periods of inactivity

What This Service Focuses On

  • Gradual strength rebuilding

  • Joint mobility and flexibility restoration

  • Balance and fall prevention

  • Core stability and posture

  • Safe return to functional daily movement

  • Confidence rebuilding in physical activity

RN-Guided Approach

Your plan is built using a safety-first, clinical lens:

  • Symptom-aware progression (fatigue, pain, dizziness monitoring)

  • Joint protection strategies

  • Breathing and pacing techniques

  • Functional movement patterns (real-life movement focus)

  • Conservative progression to reduce reinjury risk

Exercise Categories & Examples

1. Gentle Mobility & Range of Motion

Goal: Restore joint movement and reduce stiffness

Exercises:

  • Seated shoulder rolls

  • Neck side-to-side mobility

  • Ankle circles (important for circulation & fall prevention)

  • Cat-Cow (modified on chair or mat)

RN Tip: Movements are slow and pain-free—no forcing range of motion.

2. Foundational Strength (Low Load / Bodyweight)

Goal: Rebuild basic strength safely

Exercises:

  • Sit-to-stand (chair squats)

  • Wall push-ups

  • Glute bridges

  • Heel raises (holding support if needed)

Progression: Increase repetitions before adding resistance.

3. Core Stability & Postural Support

Goal: Protect spine and improve movement control

Exercises:

  • Pelvic tilts

  • Seated core bracing

  • Dead bug (modified)

  • Bird dog (hands elevated if needed)

RN Insight: Core stability is essential for reducing strain on healing areas.

4. Balance & Fall Prevention

Goal: Improve stability and confidence

Exercises:

  • Supported single-leg stand

  • Tandem stance (heel-to-toe)

  • Heel-to-toe walking

  • Weight shifting exercises

Safety: Always performed near a stable surface (chair or wall).

5. Functional Movement Training

Goal: Return to real-life activities

Exercises:

  • Step-ups (low height)

  • Hip hinge training (safe bending)

  • Carrying light objects

  • Sit-to-floor transitions (as appropriate)

6. Cardiovascular Reconditioning (Low Impact)

Goal: Improve endurance without overexertion

Options:

  • Short, progressive walking plans

  • Stationary cycling (low resistance)

  • Marching in place

  • Light elliptical (if appropriate)
