Low Fiber

Low-fiber diet:

Generally intended for short-term use

Prolonged restriction can reduce intake of vitamins, minerals, and beneficial fiber

Dairy: Milk, yogurt, and cheese are usually allowed if tolerated. Lactose intolerance should be managed individually

Avoid whole grains, seeds, nuts, and most raw fruits and vegetables

Reintroduce fiber gradually as symptoms resolve and under ongoing guidance and monitoring:

Start with well-cooked vegetables and peeled fruits, then move to whole grains and raw produce over days to weeks

Short-term nutritional adequacy can usually be maintained with careful food choices

Prolonged low-fiber intake may reduce intake of iron, calcium, folate, vitamin C, and other micronutrients

Prescribed Medication Considerations:

Antacids, Probiotics, medications causing constipation or diarrhea
